I followed his advice and I’ve been saving almost 40% of what I usually spend from ordering the same items.

Each time you walk into a fast food joint or cafeteria that you’re sure to return to, cultivate a relationship with the people who work there. Ask them to explain to you the combos that give you the best value for your money.
A friend of mine used to joke that whenever you walk into a more upscale food establishment, you'll end up paying more for the atmosphere than the food. I know it's hard, but try not to judge a book by it's cover. Beautiful décor and a staged photos of menu items can be quite deceiving!
